Our church is part of the United Reformed Church (URC). The URC
stands in the historic Reformed tradition, whose members make up the largest single strand of Protestantism-with more than
70 million members world-wide. Our church has approximately 100 members and approximately 40 others who regularly attend
worship. We also have an active Junior Church.
Water Lane URC is part of a linked pastorate with Stansted
URC.
Our fellowship is led by an elected group of Elders who have
the responsibility for spiritual leadership and oversight of church life. Our Elders are in turn supported by many in
our church family who use their various gifts to attend to matters spiritual and pastoral, material and financial.
We rejoice in our buildings, our lovely
church (the current building was built in 1860 and extended and modernised in 2000) and our extensive church halls, including
a refitted kitchen. Both buildings and most rooms are available to let.
Bible discussion groups are arranged at
various times. These are held in conjunction with Stansted URC.
Further events take place throughout
the year, such as our church family day when all members of the congregation are able to join together for lunch and an afternoon
of discussions, music and craft.
